Kwanzaa's Over--Everyone Back to Work

This is the second day of my work week. Michele had to stay home and celebrate Kwanzaa by herself. I've been on the phone for about 2 1/2 days now supporting a single application. It's been pretty straight forward -- some fix-it calls some how-to calls -- nothing I couldn't figure out from my training documents. I still have a lot of questions about procedural type stuff -- where to tranfer for this, when am I allowed to do that, etc. I'm somewhat surprised at how easy it was to get back into call taking. My main issue is answering the phone correctly, right company name, etc. I did get 100% on 4 QA's on Friday.

Christmas was nice. We spent most of the day at Michele's Dad's. We watched the naughty children open gifts and Chuck grilled steaks for lunch. The kids got double gifted on almost everything. We (the adults) apparently didn't communicate well enough as we went through their lists.

Michele and I were double gifted on one item, but it's no big deal. There was another household item on our list which we didn't receive so we'll exchange item a2 for item b1.

I guess I'm supposed to have some training on an additional application to support today ... sometime. And HR still hasn't done my orientation. I think that's supposed to happen this week too.

I hope everyone has a happy holiday.

Gonna be back on the phones soon

Well, I have almost all my logins and they got my phone working today. I don't have a vantive login yet but i can use my sup's until they get that done. A lot of IT people are using their last vacation days or something.

Things are going well. There putting me on the super easy application support this week and if I don't bomb that too bad then they'll invest in some more training for me and have me support an additional application next week.

After that I'll be caught up with the other tech nubes here and my training schedule will line up with theirs.

Very happy with this place and my team. I'm sure this is going to work out quite well for me.

I park right next to the pavillion. I'm going to have to check the schedule there and start making use of that facility in the afternoons. Go see JonB now and then.

Lunch is over. Back to work.

Seems like old times

Ok. So, today I'm going to listen to calls for the first product I'm going to support. Pretty interesting. The queue isn't a very busy one. And I'm supposed to follow along in Vantive, look up the customer, etc. Yep. I said Vantive. It's been a while but I'll get back up to speed on Vantive.

I can't log in to vantive. I don't have my own log in. When I tried to use my Sup's log in I got an error about the short date on my regional settings being wrong. It's in the MM/dd/yyyy format that vantive wants but vantive just closes. Well, they'll get me all straightened out before the end of the week, I suppose.

On a personal note, I woke up with my sinuses full of crud.... dead white cells, I suspect, and I coughed until my vision went red, then black. Unfortunately I also got up about 20 minutes later than I should have so I didn't have time to piss around getting ready for work. (I had time to piss, just not piss around)

I got to the parking ramp and started walking my 3 blocks to work just as Julie came down from the upper level. HAH! I have lower level-protected-from-the-environment-parking. Julie has to park on the upper level in the snow/rain/wind. We'll probably start car pooling soon--then she'll quit whining (about parking anyway). Julie and I walked together and got here on time.

At least I didn't come in with dog poo on my shoe.

New Job

OK. As most of you know, my Supervisor position with SSCC was reduced to an hourly position. I didn't post it here because most people that know me see me at Wild Willy's. Anyway, on top of getting moved to an hourly position, there was talk of going to 2 shifts at the corrugator. Well, there were still 2 corrugator supervisors, so that would have moved me back to an even lower hourly position depending on my plant seniority.

This wasn't going to happen soon. They needed some new equipment, etc. But it prompted a job search.

I was extremely successful in my job search, as I was hired for a new position with [CENSORED] [CENSORED] [CENSORED] Information Services about 3 months before I expected them to hire anyone.

Today is my second day. I'm going to be in training for a while.

I will say that I'll probably be posting more as I have internet access here.
